We are off and running in 4th grade! All of the students are trying their best and working hard. We have been learning how to write a Six Sentence Summary both last week and this week. This is very important to learn how to do. Math is another big concept this year. Mastering the multiplication facts is a must and needs to be taken care of by the time we come back on track in October. The  reason behind this is the math for the rest of the year deals with multiplication and division, besides addition and subtratction. Please help your child learn these using the "Ogre" game your child brought home from school. Playing games/activities is a great way to learn!!!!!!

If you wish to contact me through email please make a note of the following email address. I don't use the school one since I cannot get onto the school web server when I am at home due to the distance I live from the school. My email address is:  thesupercrafter@gmail.com

Thanks for helping your child get off to a wonderful start to 4th grade!

Your child will need to have their styrofoam, (not the green flower foam block BUT the white ones no longer than 12"x4"x2", this is maximum size), at school by Friday, May 20th so I will know who is making a fish and who is not. Thanks!

Hope you had a great President's Day! We have started working on the Wax Museum. If you have not heard from your child who they are going to be and do their report on you need to ask. All of the paperwork for this project is kept in a big brown envelope. The completion dates and requirements are all in this envelope.

"Drop Dead Day" is March 16th. There has been a change by couple of days due to Mr. Westwood's schedule. This will be the last chance for the students in my class to earn the Dragon Slayer or Keys to the Kingdom.

Your child needs to be reading and studing their spelling words every night.

Thanks for supporting the learning process with your child.

February 7, 2011

So sorry this post for the week is late. It has taken  few moments to catch up after being absent the last two weeks. I know your children were in good hands and were learning the things they needed to since I was the one who made the lesson plans and provided the materials to be worked on. I am glad to be back and as of this moment I have just a few assingments left to enter into the computer.

As of today, if the assignments are not turned in on time your child will be given a zero. This may sound harsh BUT it makes my job difficult to do when assignments are turned in several days or weeks late. By this happening I am losing my family time at night to grade this papers and get them into the computer. Your child has enough time to get the assignments completed in class if they are using their time wisely. When assignments are turned in late it is usually because it has be lost or just not done then parents want to catch the child back up. This idea does not really work. The concepts taught in class build upon each other and require an understanding. When work is not completed when it should be it stalls the learning process of your child. I am trying to teach your child to be responsible for their work and grade. If you you need to discuss this with me please feel free to call me or discuss this next week with me at your conference time.
